 Abstract:  The Hanna Family is an Ohio family (New Lisbon and Cleveland) whose members included Senator Marcus A. Hanna and businessman Leonard C. Hanna. The collection consists of correspondence, legal documents, charts, deeds, notes, wills, photos, and magazine and newspaper clippings containing genealogical data relating primarily to members of the Hanna family in Cleveland and Ohio, especially to Robert, Benjamin, and Leonard Hanna. Includes 7 v. of congratulatory messages sent to Marcus A. Hanna after successful campaigns of the Republican Party in which Hanna played a major role.

 Abstract:  Robert Hanna (1789-1854) was the first white child born in Lynchburg, (West) Virginia. His family moved to Columbiana County, Ohio, in 1801. He became a circuit-riding minister for the Methodist Church. His great nephew, Marcus A. Hanna, became a United States Senator. The collection consists of an autobiography, a daily journal of his activities as a minister, clippings, genealogical material, sermons, scattered correspondence, a license to perform marriages, and scattered notes on the John Kersey Wharry branch of the family (ca. 1938).
