 Abstract:  John Worrell Northrop was a Civil War soldier who served in the 76th New York Infantry. The collection consists of a detailed account of Northrop's battle experiences, capture, and confinement at Andersonville Prison in Georgia. Chronicles from the diary of a war prisoner in Andersonville and other military prisons of the South in 1864... by J. W. Northrop, Wichita, Kan., 1904.

2Title:  Regimental Papers of the Civil War

 Abstract:  William Pendleton Palmer (1861-1927) was President of the Western Reserve Historical Society, Cleveland, Ohio (1913-1927). The collection consists of American Civil War documents collected by Palmer, including military and personal correspondence, muster rolls, official orders, ordnance and quartermaster reports, casualty lists, memoirs, diaries, descriptions of the engagements in which various regiments took part, and papers dealing with veterans' organizations after the war. Half of the collection relates to Ohio volunteers, but there are papers from Union and Confederate regiments of thirty States. Includes material concerned with Negro regiments enlisted in the Southern States occupied by Union Armies, and a few references to the Mexican War and the 1850s. Collection features the James E. Taylor Sketchbook.

 Abstract:  George Knowles was a Cleveland, Ohio, patent attorney who served as assistant executive in charge of patents in the Engineering Department of Materiel Command at Wright Field Air Corps Base (Dayton, Ohio) during World War II. Margaret Knowles was his wife. The collection consists primarily of correspondence, organizational materials, journals, and military files. The collection pertains primarily to George Knowles' military experience, involvement with patents, and organizational activities with the Cleveland Patent Law Association, Exchange Club of Euclid and the Wildwood Yacht Club. Included is a small amount of material relating to Knowles' wife, Margaret, and his nephew, Myles Knowles.
