From 1941 to 1945, he served as an assistant police prosecutor for the City of Cleveland. He ran unsuccessfully for several political positions. At various times he served as president of the United Jewish Religious Schools, Fairmount Temple Men's Club, B'nai B'rith Mid-Day Lodge, B'nai B'rith Hillel Foundation, and Masada Chapter, Zionist Organization of America. He chaired the performing arts committee of the Jewish Community Center and was active in Yiddish theater productions there.
