The sketches are of scenes at the Fairbanks home on the shore of Lake Erie in the Bratenahl section of Cleveland. The volume was "Respectfully dedicated to Mr. & Mrs. A. W. During the American Civil War he served in the 11th regiment, Indiana Infantry, and sketched many of the scenes he encountered during his travels.
