After the war, he continued in aviation as a pilot. In 1927, he joined the Cleveland Pneumatic Tool Company of Cleveland, Ohio, as a sales representative, later becoming vice president. He was deeply involved in the National Air Races held in Cleveland, Ohio, serving as a starter or judge. He, his wife Lucille, and his secretary Anna Belle Elmslie were killed in a plane crash in 1952. The collection consists of images of Ephraim W. "Pops" Cleveland, his wife Lucille, other family members, business associates, and aviation colleagues. A leader of Cleveland's philanthropic community, Crawford served on the boards of many cultural institutions. He was appointed to the Western Reserve Historical Society Board of Trustees in 1944 and later served as it's president. He was instrumental in the transfer of the Thompson Auto Album and Aviation Museum collection to WRHS in the 1960s, which became the nucleus of the Frederick C. Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum of WRHS.
