Warren (1760-1851), a descendant of John Warren of Watertown, Massachusetts, was a surveyor with the Moses Cleaveland expedition to the Connecticut Western Reserve in 1796 and an early settler in Warrensville Township, Ohio. He was one of the founders of the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1837 and served as a trustee, treasurer, and overseer of the poor for the township. He died in Warrensville in 1851, survived by 3 of his children, including Daniel Warren (1786-1862), Anna Wilcox Prentiss, and Moses Warren, Jr. Daniel Warren's wife, Margaret (Prentiss), purportedly gave the township her husband's name. He founded the Department of Histology and Embryology at Western Reserve University Medical and Dental Schools in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was professor from 1901-1940. Waite visited and inspected virtually every medical and dental school in the United States before and after World War I. He was a prolific author, particularly after his retirement, writing books on the history of the Western Reserve University Medical and Dental Schools. Waite was the son of Nelson and Cynthia Post Waite, and gathered extensive genealogical information pertaining to the Post family, particularly the children of Zina and Marena Post of Hudson, Ohio.
