His wife, Marjorie Jamison, was active in the Book and Thimble Club and helped to organize a special committee of the Cleveland USO during World War II to provide traveller's aid to servicemen. The collection consists of individual portraits of Robert Jamison; and group portraits, primarily of Troop A of Cleveland, Ohio, at Camp Willis and El Paso, Texas (1916-1917). Joseph Buell was a sergeant at Fort Harmar, across the Muskingum River from Marietta, when the first settling party from the Ohio Company arrived in April 1788. He later settled in Marietta with his family. Joseph Buell ran a successful tavern. In addition, he was appointed an associate justice of the Washington County Court of Common Pleas and a major general in the Ohio Militia in 1803, and served an an elected state senator from 1803-1805. Joseph's brother Timothy Buell was a captain in the militia and also served as a county magistrate, a state representative from 1820-1822, and sheriff of Washington County. Many of their descendants were also prominent in the affairs of Marietta and Washington County. The collection consists of portraits of members of the Buell, Curtis, and Nye families. He was also president of the National Bank of Commerce in Cleveland, Ohio. The collection consists of four albums and 18 loose photographs. Album 1 is entitled 135th Field Artillery American Expeditionary Forces. Photographs document the unit's training at Camp Sheridan, its service in France, and its return to the United States in 1917-1919. The album also includes some clippings, correspondence, and cloth insignias. Album 2 contains photographs showing military scenes at Camp Alger, VA. during June 1898. He was a member of Cleveland's Troop A, serving with the First Squadron Ohio Cavalry during the Mexican border dispute of 1916-17, and with the 135th Field Artillery in France during World War I, commanding the unit from Aug. 1917 to Apr. 1919. He retired a brigadier general in 1936. His father, Curtis V. Hard, of Wooster, Ohio, served as a colonel in the 8th Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Cuban campaign of 1898. The collection consists of portraits of Colonel Dudley J.
