A graduate of Glenville High School, Zucker graduated from Western Reserve University in 1932 and then completed a master's degree from the university's School of Applied Social Sciences in 1935. He began his career as a social worker with local agencies and during World War II served as a special consultant in Washington, D. C. In 1946 he began his long association with Cleveland's Jewish community when he accepted the position of Associate Director of the Jewish Welfare Federation of Cleveland. When he retired in 1975 he had worked as Executive Director (1948-1965) and Executive Vice President (1965-1975) of the Jewish Community Federation. Vincent (1912-1982) served as Assistant Director of the Jewish Community Federation of Cleveland, Ohio, from 1951 to 1965 and as Executive Director from 1965 until his retirement in 1975. Throughout his career, he worked in tandem with Executive Vice-President Henry L. Zucker, making the Federation the primary organizing instrument for the Jewish community in northeast Ohio. Vincent led major studies of Jewish education, Federation-synagogue relations, cultural life, and Jewish community histories, and coordinated programs linking Cleveland and Israel. In 1969, Vincent served as the American Director of the World Conference on Human Needs in Israel. He also served as President of the National Conference of Jewish Communal Service and as Chairman of the International Conference of Jewish Communal Service in 1971. Before beginning his career in Jewish community service, Vincent taught English at Glenville High School, his alma mater.
